OMG, I’m in love with this device.

Who hasn’t heard about this? I guess it was just a matter of time before I got hooked into considering getting one. Now 2 weeks in, I couldn’t be happier.

Tell me you haven’t heard about the Furbo Dog Camera.

Not only do I love it, but my beagle clearly does too. I’m sure I’m practically walking on water, in his eyes.

If you’re not familiar with it, let me tell you about:

Things I Love About It:

Setup is so friggin’ easy: If you haven’t set this up within a few minutes, you might have done something wrong. But I don’t see how that would be possible — honestly.   A strong high-speed Internet connection is required, which is so prevalent nowadays so I wouldn’t be worried about that. No worries if you don’t have the fastest broadband. Chances are if you can watch YouTube videos in 1080p, and you don’t need to buffer before the video starts, you’re pretty much set speed-wise.

Are you still questioning how easy it is to set up? Let me tell you.

• Plug in the Furbo device with the USB cable to the A/C adapter.
• Download the Furbo app through the App Store/Google Play.
• Open the Furbo app and follow the on-screen instructions to complete set up.

Bing, bang, boom. That’s pretty much it.

Multi-functionality. Seriously — it’s just like have an additional home security system for your home. That’s a win-win as far as I’m concerned.

Full HD camera + night vision — This has a 160º wide-angle 1080p HD camera lens, with a 4x zoom and infrared LED night vision for monitoring activity with absolute clarity, day or night.

Mobile app connectivity — With compatibility for both iOS and Android devices, and having robust Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities, you’ll be able to easily access it from nearly any mobile device.

Canine vision-sensitive yellow + blue light status indicators — When you open the app, Furbo’s light indicator changes from yellow to blue to attract your dog’s attention. Those are two colors that your beagle will be able to identify easily. The blue light indicates interactive mode & yellow indicates sleep mode.

Amazon Alexa Compliant — Not only can you control this device, but you can control it through your voice.

Duplex audio — Full two-way sound with an integrated high-quality speaker and ultra-sensitive microphone, enables connected interaction throughout the day.

Easy to refill — Did I mention that it was easy? Just drop the treats into the convenient, removable lid.

Things I Don’t Love About It:

The Treat Reservoir — For the sake of clarity, the reservoir is a little shallow. It’s shouldn’t be of that much inconvenience, since it’s not like your beagle will be subsisting off of treats.

Multiple Treatgasms — It dispenses 3-4 treats at the same time. I prefer to provide my Skyler, Zuke’s Natural Mini Dog Treats [on Amazon]. They’re not only lower calories, so I don’t feel guilty about him having extras. Also, since they’re smaller in size, they’ll fit inside of the Furbo well.

It’s potentially easy for your beagle to gain unauthorized access — If your beagle is particularly inquisitive, that may be of concern to you. However, it’s also very easily remedied, by having it on a shelf or any other elevated surfaces, where they won’t be able to readily access the Furbo.

Don’t let the barking alert feature, reinforce negative behavior — when your beagle barks, the Furbo can deliver push notifications to your smart device. Although I understand the logic of trying to soothe your pup with a treat, you don’t want to reinforce negative behavior by creating a scenario that whenever your beagle barks, that they will expect a reward. Otherwise, you’ll end up with a consistently loud beagle — and no one wants that.

Final Thoughts

I love this thing.

One recommendation I’d give if you’re considering purchasing one though: Place this near or in a corner of a room, on a shelf or other secure placement. By placing it into the corner, you’ll really be able to take full advantage of the 160º wide-angle 1080p HD camera lens.

For something that’s moderately priced and so well-constructed; I can understand why they are immensely popular.

For me: It provides my family additional peace of mind, knowing that we can always check on our four-legged fur baby, at a moment’s notice.
